Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS Review

Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS

Whirlpool is a familiar brand name when it comes to kitchen appliances and there are countless homes all over the world that have a refrigerator or some other appliances from the company in their kitchens.  The Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS is designed to continue the strong tradition created by Whirlpool for decades and with its side-by-side design in stainless steel, it is indeed a fine looking piece of machinery. With a little over 25 cubic feet total capacity, more than 15 cubic feet for the refrigerator and a smidgen below 10 cubic feet for the freezer, it provides sufficient storage for everything.

Features

  • Super Shelving
The Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS has the kind of shelves that eliminate having to reach into the very back while trying to find whatever one is looking for. These shelves can be slid in and out, providing easier accessibility to any and all items. They also have the patented SpillGuard glass that prevents spillage from seeping from one shelf to another and makes cleanups less of a hassle.
  • Not-So-Common Sense
No one really likes having to go through trial-and-error when setting up the thermostat and other controls for a refrigerator. The 6th Sense technology that comes with this particular model makes it possible for a homeowner to simply sit back and have the refrigerator do all the work, thanks to the built-in sensors that take note of changes that occur in the refrigerator and then go ahead and make the necessary adjustments.
  • The Indispensible
The added convenience of having an external ice and water dispenser makes it easier for one to get a cold glass of water without having to waste energy by opening both compartments to grab some ice cubes and a pitcher of water. It also has a filtration system that can be changed easily.

Verdict

Exceeding the minimum standards set by Energy Star, the Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS gets high marks in terms of energy efficiency.  It is a quiet enough that chills well in the refrigerator section and freezes capably in the freezer section. It is not an overly large unit but its storage capacity is ample enough for a reasonably-sized family that does its fair share of grocery shopping. There have been some complaints regarding its overall reliability and durability but the majority of customers seem quite pleased with how it has stood up for the amount of time they have had it.
